I've not seen China Glaze being sold in any physical Australian stores, so I was fairly excited to check out Paddy's Markets as I knew they were stocked at some stalls. I was specifically looking for Swing Baby but I couldn't find it. Instead, my eye was drawn to these sparkly/glittery shades on display and I had to have them all. I'm especially enamoured of the perfectly named Snow Globe, one of the most beautiful polishes I've come across. Iridescent glitter (turquoise, peridot, amber, peach, cornflower blue, lavender) in a clear base. Only problem was the one nail I painted chipped in a day.
I know I said I wouldn't buy another lipstick unless it was the perfect yellow-based pink or something truly special, but I managed to limit myself to one Revlon lipstick in a shade I've been meaning to buy for a while: Pink In the Afternoon. It looks like a rosy medium pink, but on my lips it's significantly warmer with slight coral tones. A pink lipstick that isn't purplish on my lips and actually warms up my face? It exists.

I've heard positive feedback from the blogosphere about the L'Oréal HiP Metallic Shadow Duo eyeshadows and was thrilled to randomly come across the Electrified duo. It consists of a super shimmery cool taupe and a dark purple with a subtle plum sheen, two shades that could've come straight out of Urban Decay Naked2 (in terms of colour selection and quality). At first, I thought that the taupe would be similar to Suspect and the purple close to Busted, but when I swatched the colours alongside each other, the Naked2 shades were significantly warmer and more brown. In comparison, the taupe in Electrified almost has an olive tone. It's actually closest to L'Oréal Infallible eyeshadow in Sahara Treasure (the HiP is a touch cooler, lighter and less gold). I searched high and low for Sahara Treasure and while I love the colour, I don't often reach for it because the pressed pigment is a little tricky. Electrified makes it easy. The best part? It was $5. Thank you Paddy's Markets.
Amazing! So jealous of your haul! Lucky girl...

Great finds! I've never bought any make-up from Paddy's before, only because it just looks so dodgy! But definitely going hunting for those China Glaze nail polishes next time I'm near market city!
ReplyDeleteHaha, some of it is definitely suspect, if not totally unusable :p I guess it's about what you're willing to put up with & being a little bit discerning. Nail polish shouldn't be a problem though :)
DeleteGreat buys!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE WHOLE LOT! You lucky girl. the eyeshadows are so pretty :) xx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Stellar looks so gorgeous! Pink in the Afternoon remains one of my favorite Revlon lipsticks since I bought my first one ages ago! <3
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favourite lipstick shades! I was so happy when i got it :) The eyeshadow pigments are gorgeous! xX
ReplyDeleteGreat haul!
ReplyDeleteThe nailpolishes are really cute and I love the eyeshadows
Such good deals for everything! Stellar looks beautiful, I think Snow Globe on top of Stellar would look amazing. I have Pink in the Afternoon, it's one of my favorite lipsticks ever. The pink is so different from all the others I've tried and it also looks the best on me. Hope you'll love it too!
ReplyDeleteChina glaze polishes never fails to impress and those glitter shades look really nice. I may have to invest in some of those to add to my collection! The L'oreal HIP eyeshadow colours are so pretty and seem very pigmented indeed, its such a shame that i don't think they do it here in the UK :(
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing~x

You actually managed to track down Sahara Treasure?! After looking for that one for months, and being unsucessful, I assumed that it wasn't available in Australia. Now the search is well and truely back on! That being said, the similar shade in the Electrified duo is pretty too. Not to mention an absolute steal.
ReplyDeleteSnow Globe is A-MAZ-ING! I totally agree with you on that one. I loved it at first glance, but when I saw the name I was completely enamoured! The perfect (non tacky!) Christmas shade! I imagine it'd go really well on top of that Revlon baby pink with glitter shade you love so much. I can't remember the name of it. Eeep!
I found it at Target :) Try Priceline or random chemists, I believe it should still be available, you just need to go digging :)
DeleteGreat nail polish combo suggestion, though I'd probably just wear Snow Globe over pale pink polish. The glitter in it is quite subtle, somewhat like a flakie polish, so it might clash with other glitter polishes if layered together. Going to dedicate a post to Snow Globe, I definitely am glad to have found it :)
I like your nail polishes. I have many things from China Glaze, but nothing so glittery, I would love to try them.
ReplyDeletegreat haul! Stellar looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteOoo you've got some lovely things!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get China Glaze easily, those colours look gorgeous, you must always have lovely nails with what you show us here :)
I love the colour of the eyeshadows and the colour of the lipstick :)
Laura xoxo
The China Glaze Stellar is to die for. I have still never tried China Glaze as they are kind of hard to find in where I'm. But will definitely go out for a hunt when I'm in the city.
ReplyDeleteThe china glaze polishes look amazing, especially snow globe <3 xx
ReplyDeleteSo wish this was my haul. Love it all :) x
ReplyDeleteomg these china glaze polishes are perfect! Glitters are my weak point haha
ReplyDeleteI follow you now, follow me back?

ReplyDeleteI loooove Stellar! The color is gorgeous. I really like the HIP duos too - they give great pigmentation for a drugstore shadow.
I really like techno and snowglobe!! Perfect for layering on top of other colours :)
ReplyDeleteGreat haul dear. Love the colors of that HIP shadow.

I'VE BEEN WANTING THE L'OREAL ELECTRIFIED DUO FOR SO LONG! I can't seem to find it anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI know, me too! Really was surprised to have found it at Paddy's. But the taupe shade (the star of the duo) is really similar to Sahara Treasure, so it's worth tracking down that Infallible eyeshadow if you really like the shade in Electrified. Personally, the purple is nice but not as pretty or as much of a standout, the darkest purple in Revlon CustomEyes Rich Temptations is similar :)
DeleteLiterally, when I saw the first photo I was thinking "omgosh no way no way she got the Electrified duo". And I was seething. With envy. It looks so beauuuutiful. I was even looking at NYX single shadows online last week trying to see which ones resembled the taupe and the purple the closest so I could improvise my own Electrified duo. Your dupes may be close, but they're nowhere near as affordable as the Electrified duo. d:
DeleteThe nail polishes are the same as Fast Track and I think Luxor? But From The Hunger Games collection. Identical!:) and that lipstick is gorgeous. Great haul!
ReplyDeleteI know which ones you mean, they do look similar. Those 2 were my favourite from the HG collection so I'm happy to have found these :)
DeleteGreat buys! :)
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across your blog and loved the haul and especially the nail polishes! <3
ReplyDeleteThe HIP duo looks amazing! I really have to put them on my wishlist so I can storm the aisles of all the drugstores when I get back to the states soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat mini haul! Love that lipstick I have heard fantastic things about it. And I love those glitter polishes.. I have never tried China Glaze before..perhaps I should starts!
ReplyDeletexo
Great swatches! That lipstick looks really pretty, I may have to check it out! And I'm loving that 'Stellar' polish. It'd be so perfect for a night out, no?

Wow great bargains, wish I could find the same deals in Melbourne. Need to get my hands on those HIP e/s, had no idea they were so pigmented.

i loooove the china glaze glitter polish! totally agree with dodgy market makeup, i'm way too scared to put that stuff on my face. i actually bought OPI from camberwell market once and i swear it was a fake. smelled awful.
ReplyDeletebut these finds look fantastic!
I use to go to Paddys all the time when I was still studying at UTS, now I've moved. I'm cbbed to go there anymore. That's awesome how you found China Glaze. Yeah i've seen those knockoffs... so tacky!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to get Snow Globe for the longest time but I never seem to bump in to it in stores! It looks so pretty *_* I guess I'll have to order it online or something. And I guess, we just have to look for warmer toned pink lipsticks instead of the cute pale pinks that we all fall too easily for but never suits us. I'm glad you finally found a cute pink lipstick color that matches your skin tone well :P haha.
ReplyDeleteLol, it's been quite the journey :p I think I need to retire from buying any more pink lipstick (or lipstick in general, for that matter :p). Definitely learned a hard lesson when it comes to buying a pink for my skin tone, even if it took about 10 pale blue-based pinks to get me there. Do scout Snow Globe, it's super pretty :) I'm sure you'll love wearing it, especially if you like flakie polishes.
DeleteThose nail polishes are so pretty - gotta love glittery nails! The Hip e/s duo is lovely and well pigmented~ What great buys!
ReplyDeleteI saw quite a few cosmetic stores at Paddy's and they had a lot of Maybelline and Revlon lippies! I didn't end up getting anything because I didn't know how old they were..
Those China Glaze glitters look so gorgeous! Great buys :) x

ReplyDeletei love Pink in the afternoon! it is a perfect retro pink that also looks modern.
ooh I love the glitter for the china glaze! it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteNice haul! Snow globe is sooo pretty! Bummer about the chipping though.

Interesting ideas and style concepts!
ReplyDeletehaha I used to love Paddys...but now all the crowds are too overwhelming for me! I love checking out all the cheap makeup too. how much did you get the CG nail polishes for? Techno and Snowglobe look absolutely amazing <333
ReplyDeletemetallicpaws.blogspot.com
It's a total maze there, it can definitely get a
Deletebit overwhelming. It's nice to visit every few months I guess :) The CG polishes were $9 but I think they charged me a premium because they're glitter polishes. The cremes were a bit cheaper. The price is okay, you can get it cheaper online but shipping brings it to about the same price, plus you have to wait for it to arrive. But I totally didn't plan on splurging on these nail polishes, I just couldn't resist when I saw them :p
Both Techno and Snow Globe look absolutely stunning and I have Pink in the Afternoon too but I find it to be a bit too neon on me... might try it again with a tan this summer x
ReplyDeleteBTW, did you know you had captchas on? Makes it hard to comment ):
I love the nail colors.
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING those nail colors, especially the glitter one! Such a great haul and I love how they look on you!
ReplyDeleteI have trouble finding a warm pink that doesn't appear purple on my pigmented lips too, I will definitely check Pink In the Afternoon out. Revlon are my favourite lipsticks by far. Also, I really want those polishes. Sigh. Actually, I normally want everything your blog about. x
ReplyDeletelove all the pretty things you buy and your photography is just lovely! ahhh, so many sparkles <3
