10 Products I Would Repurchase

I've seen the title of this post in the form of a tag, with the premise being that you've lost your entire makeup collection and need to choose 10 products to first buy as you rebuild from scratch. That thought exercise didn't seem as engaging to me as showing products I'd actually repurchased, or am convinced I would repurchase once finished. Of the products selected, I have physically repurchased 7 of the 10, some of them numerous times and often with more than one backup stowed away. I've omitted a few items I've previously harped on about, mainly Maybelline Baby Lips in Relieving Menthol, Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, Avene Thermal Spring Water and Sally Hansen Radiant Hands, Nails & Cuticles Creme.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush
I adore Real Techniques brushes and can't imagine applying my makeup without them. The Buffing Brush is my absolute favourite. I use it almost every day for my base. It's just a phenomenally good brush. It doesn't soak up product, it blends foundation in effortlessly and efficiently, it's super soft and just the right density. It's held up remarkably well after nonstop use and regular washes for over a year. After it's freshly washed, it could almost pass as brand new. I don't recall it ever shedding a single hair. The thought of buying another Core Collection set as a backup (despite having both the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and Sigma F82 to potentially replace my Buffing Brush) has crossed my mind many times, but I've managed to resist for now.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
Forgive me for rambling about this cream eyeshadow ad nauseam. Already repurchased even though I don't see myself finishing my existing pot for at least a year. It's now an established part of my default makeup when I can't be bothered to think about what to slap on my face (which is most days). I'm thrilled something that performs so well and is such a flattering, neutral shade is so readily available and affordable.

Korres Lip Butter
Now that Cosmo Cosmetics stocks the 3 pack of these for under $20, these Lip Butters (normally $18.95 each) are no longer out of my price range. They're plush, moisturising and non-sticky on the lips, and shades like Mango and Pomegranate provide a fresh, summery tint. My collection reviewed in detail here.

Bourjois Liner Feutre in Noir
It's time for me to repurchase this again as my current one has run out. I've tried a few felt tip and liquid eyeliners (including Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen, Sportsgirl To the Point Liquid Eye Liner and Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner), but Bourjois Liner Feutre is still the best. Easy and quick to use, it's fast drying and stays put the whole day with only minor fading. And while it's long lasting, I like that it's also relatively easy to remove with my normal cleanser.

NARS Sheer Glow in Fiji
Out of all my foundations, this is the one I would purchase if my makeup collection disappeared. I previously used this as my everyday foundation, but now want to reserve it for special occasions, or when I want my skin to look extra nice. I love the illuminating, perfected finish it gives, while still looking relatively natural. It's easy to apply with both a brush or fingers, and unlike Make Up For Ever HD foundation, I've never experienced it clinging to dry spots or being difficult to work with.

Josie Maran Argan Oil
I wish I'd picked up a larger bottle when I had the chance, as I'm not sure how easy it'll be to replenish my supply once I use up my 15ml travel size bottle (there's less than 40% left). I actually think I prefer this to my Antipodes Divine Face Oil, which is still good but not as effective or pure. With 2-3 drops in my regular night cream, my skin is more hydrated, plump and smooth in the mornings. I also feel that continued use has helped with oil control and minimising breakouts.

Bioderma Créaline H₂O
Best makeup remover, hands down. It's basically like water but super effective at taking everything off without disturbing or irritating the skin. I use this as sparingly as I can (mostly for eye makeup removal) because it's precious stuff. Like most things, it's incredibly overpriced in Australia and not that easy to come across. Thankfully I have a backup bottle courtesy of my dad and his Parisian travels last year.

Dove Essential Nutrients Day Cream SPF15
Repurchased countless times. It's the cream that I keep returning to because it just works for me. It's hydrating without being greasy or heavy, feels comfortable on the skin and is readily absorbed, doesn't have any kind of offensive or overpowering scent, and works well as a makeup base. It's a touch rich for a daily moisturiser, so it might be a little too much for those with really oily skin, particularly in summer.

Dove Cleanser & Toner in One
Like the Dove Essential Nutrients Day Cream, this has been repurchased too many times to count. I've been using this for years. I honestly didn't know how good it was until I tried out a few other cleansers and discovered how woefully inadequate or downright terrible they were in comparison. This foams well, is gentle and non-drying, and removes makeup effectively. Best of all, it's the only cleanser that I can rub along my lower lash line to get rid of eyeliner without stinging my eyes — and it takes it all off.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat
Forget Seche Vite. Tried it, didn't like it. It smelt disgusting, shrunk around the edges and gave off a yellow tinge which totally discoloured my nail polish. I don't know whether that was a dud bottle, but my one experience with it was so underwhelming I never bothered to give it another go. Insta-Dri, on the other hand, is a godsend for someone like me, who regularly paints their nails but is too impatient to wait for each coat to dry, and who probably does 2-3 coats more than required each time. What I've found is that is effectively creates a kind of hard, sealed top layer for my nail polish, so that even if the bottom layers aren't completely dry because I've heaped too much polish on, they're protected from dents and smearing by the Insta-Dri coat. It also just speeds up the whole drying process, and leaves a smooth, glossy finish which makes any polish look better. When Chemist Warehouse had their 50% off Sally Hansen, I purchased 3 backups. Yes. Three.

  2. I am interesting in all the products here and i too have been loving my real techniques buffing brush :) I've been using it constantly everyday since i got it..not too sure if i should repurchase another one just for back up since i have been washing it quite frequently!
I still really really want to try out the Korres Lip butters but i have always been a bit put off of it because it is in a pot form, although i believe that there is a stick form of this i think. X x X x

  3. I adore Korres Lip Butter and Color Tattoo as well, they are amazing :)
It's great that you include not only makeup, but also skincare, tools and nail product, lovely post :)

  4. Great choices as always! Ever since you mentioned the Dove Cleanser & Toner in One I've been obsessing over it but it's not sold where I live so my thirst will remain unquenched (dramatic much? LOL). Guilty as charged, I have a Core Set back up (and of the Expert Face brush as well... *cough -hoarder- *cough), don't really know why because they haven't shed a single fiber though the amount of cleansing my poor brushes get due to my crazy anime looks is unprecedented. If I lost all my beauty products I'd cry for months so I don't even want to think about that! xx

  9. I really love the Maybelline colour tattoo and Real Techniques buffing brush - I wish they sold it separately, not that I'm in need of a new one either yet! I really want a Korres lip butter, Bioderma (thank God it's going to be available in the UK in a few months!), NARS Sheer Glow and the Sally Hanson top coat. I think I'm going to do this 'tag' too as my "products I wouldn't repurchase" post was really popular! Really enjoyed reading this :)

  10. I haven't heard of the Dove cleanser & toner in one or their moisturiser so I'll definitely give them a go as I'm always looking for good quality skin care. I've tried Sheer Glow in a sample and I loved it so I really want to pick that up soon!

  12. Aww, I love that you did this ! I drafted up 10 Products I'd Repurchase but ended up deleting it because the list constantly changes. I agree with most of these things haha but I wish Argan Oil was easier to find! I had the Antipodes Divine Face Oil on my list after I run out of ANR but I might give Argan Oil a go instead- can't be much more expensive, considering how much ANR costs here. I'm tempted by Sheer Glow, but I still have an entire bottle of Neutrogena Healthy Skin to plough through and I haven't even finished Healthy Mix Serum yet. I think I'm the shade Ceylan though. :) I must thank you for enabling my purchasing most of these products after hearing your recommendations. I love them almost as much as you do :P Getting back into BTTB- mine's been worn down to a shiny smooth crater like all those beauty Youtubers have done with their paint pots.

  19. Did you hear that Bioderma is cheaper in Aus now? $29.95 for 250ml, less $10 than what it was when it first launched here. I am storing my travel sized bottle for the next overseas trip I take ;p Love the sound of that oil, plumping and less breakouts, yes please! I actually bought Bad to the Bronze when it first came out (hype-buy) but only started using it once I saw how much you liked it. Great call, I am a big fan and have been wearing it daily!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I use the argan oil for my hair. i ran out of my 5ml sample toda.y it certainly is a wonderful product!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have 3/10 of the products you have, haha- the Real Techniques Buffing brush, Korres lip butters and Bad to the Bronze. The buffing brush is purely amazing- it is so soft to the skin and I have had no shedding or any problems with it before! There is a part of me that really wants to try Bioderma Crealine, but I can't justify spending so much on something that REMOVES makeup! One of my favourite moisturisers is Simple's Rich moisturiser, which retails for only $10. Sometimes if things work for you, definitely stick to it! I haven't tried any of Dove's facial skincare before though but great to hear that it has worked well for you :)

  22. bioderma is not the best eye make up remover i have tried (most probably coz i used too hardcore waterproof asian mascaras). but i will still consider it repurchasable stuff (in fact i have too much back-ups already). they aren't expensive in hk!

only tried real techniques and maybelline color tattoo out of the rest you mentioned above, and i love them! :D

    nice post. cheers, jacq

  23. I was never interested in Seche vite before! I just got the Orly Sec N' Dry and it works amazingly, I've heard MANY good things about Insta- Dry..definitely have to try it out sometime. What exactly does to the argan oil do? I am really really curious now!

  24. I need need need to try Bioderma!

  25. I'll have to try the Dove wash, since I can't really find any makeup remover from the drugstore that works well. And since I've been using the dove soap for the longest time I suppose it's time to switch it up and try the foam cleansers to see if they're just as good.

Now I really want to try the Maybelline color tattoos and that Bourjois eyeliner (Still in the process of looking for an easy liquid liner)

  26. I've also been thinking about getting backups for my RT brushes, but they seem to be able to last a lifetime! I don't really like the argan oil for my face, but I love it for the ends of my hair. I want to try the Korres lip butter! I'm always telling myself I'll put it in my cart when I shop online, but I always forget :P

  28. Fantastic post. I haven't gotten around to re-purchasing any of my beauty products except for the stuff I use daily (BB Cream, moisturizer, concealer). I've been wanting to try the Maybelline colour tattoos - but am concerned about creasing. I have oily eyelids and find all cream shadows crease on me :(

  35. Your list is very interesting to me. One of those things that I thought was definitely return to buy the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. Because it's one of your favorite shades as you've mentioned in several posts. I have curiosity to try Bioderma Créaline H₂O because lohe seen in several pharmacies and it looks interesting.

  36. I've been SCOURING for a new moisturizer/make up base and I'm so happy you love the Dove one. I can't wait to buy it. And I have to try that top coat too, I'm having such a hard time finding one that I like!

  40. I want most of them! I am finally purchasing a Real Techniques kit this month and reading new good reviews on it only gets me more excited about it! :) The Josie Maran Argan Oil, Bioderma Crealine (even though I'd get the version formulated for oily skin) :) I also love a Klorane dry shampoo (just not sure if it's the gentle one) and Avene spring water is one of the few things I couldn't live without.

  41. I was about to say that I don't think I have ever repurchased the same product twice but it's not true, I must have around three bottles of Marcelle Cleansing Water in my stash and I also have a backup of NUXE Rêve de Miel (purchased at Clarins warehouse sale, of course!).

I am really lusting after KORRES lip butters but sadly, I was really disappointe dby that Sally Hansen top coat since it absolutely doesn't protect my nail polish from chipping (it chips within ONE DAY). Hrm.

I have Maybelline color tattoo in permanent taupe, but tbh I am not 100% sold. I don't have Bad to the Bronze , yet so I can't give my thought on it. But I think I'm getting it soon! ;)
the insta dri sadly doesn't work for me.. I prefer "Essence better than gel nails" top coat which is amazing and cheap :))

I'm starting to love my real techniques brushes too! Reading on the seche vite rant on shrinking edges, so that explains! I wonder why the nail edges looked off after around 2-3 days. Oh well. I used to have the out the door one and I couldn't find it anymore =( I have yet to visit my local sally's to get it. I usually find mine at CVS and its cheaper than seche vite too.
