l-r: Ginger Rose, Pink in the Afternoon, Primrose, Berry Haute, Melonade, Cherries in the Snow, Black Cherry
Ginger Rose (131)
I picked this up at a bargain bin at a local chemist about one or two years ago. I could only judge the colour from the sticker at the back (I absolutely love that the lipsticks are colour-coded) and peering through the cap. I thought it might be a bit too brown and dark for my liking, but because it was so cheap I decided it was worth a shot. This medium tawny nude isn't the most flattering shade on my already pigmented lips (I wish it were more pink and lighter), but I love mixing it with BYS Beautifully Bare for a MLBB look.
Pink in the Afternoon (415)
I remember I was ecstatic when I stumbled across this at Paddy's Markets a year ago as I'd been trying to hunt down Pink in the Afternoon for months. I was continually let down by blue pinks that clashed with my yellow skin tone, or light pinks that always had a purplish edge when applied to my lips, and was craving something distinctly warm and medium-toned. Pink in the Afternoon is a soft coral pink that has almost a retro vibe. Interestingly, reviews on MakeupAlley describe this as an Audrey Hepburn colour, very much like what Holly Golightly wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Primrose (668)
This milky lavender pink remains one of my favourite lipsticks ever. Along with Melonade, it was the first Super Lustrous lipstick that I bought. Yes, it's a light, blue-based/purplish pink, everything I mentioned above that I was tiring of. But it's precisely because it's nearly impossible to find a shade with those characteristics that doesn't look ghastly on me that I adore it. It's just on the precipice of being too light and too cool, but manages to work for my skin tone. Just.
Berry Haute (660)
I've wanted this lipstick for forever, but resisted until recently. I just didn't know whether I'd be walking into the purple lipstick trap. I find myself irresistibly drawn to purple lipsticks, but they're not exactly conventional or the easiest to pull off. Berry Haute is a pinkish grape purple that has more of a muted quality on my lips. It's not a colour I would describe as bright. The shade is a little unusual but it's really not as out there as I may have thought. There's enough pink in there and it's not too dark, which makes it more accessible. I'd be comfortable wearing this lightly during the day, or packing it on for a more distinctly purple lip at night.
Melonade (180)
Probably my favourite bright orange lipstick, along with Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti. Melonade is a watermelon coral that appears more red on my lips than when swatched on my arm. It's one of those quintessential summer colours that instantly lifts the complexion and looks youthful and fresh. Sadly, Melonade has been discontinued, made more unfortunate by the fact my tube is actually half finished, an almost unheard of personal feat and a testament to how much I love the shade.
Cherries in the Snow (440)
This classic Revlon shade is my latest acquisition along with Berry Haute (I purchased both from Priceline as they were buy one, get one free). I don't usually go for red lips, but Cherries in the Snow was so creamy, richly pigmented and such a stunning dark pink bordering on blue-based red, that I was sold. This one is super staining and I found it a little drying, so I had to mix it with some lip balm to give my lips some moisture. While it's definitely more pink than red, I've heard some describe the colour as fuchsia but I personally don't see it. I like this for a statement evening lip though application can be tricky because it's so intensely saturated.
Black Cherry (477)
This deep burgundy/oxblood can appear intimidating, but it's surprisingly versatile. It's also just incredibly fun to have in your collection. You never know when you might need it to recreate a '20s flapper look (isn't that all the rage with the release of The Great Gatsby?) or emulate a goth teen. With my whole vampy berry lip fixation, Black Cherry was the pinnacle. Read extended rambling about it here.

Revlon Super Lustrous Crème Lipstick
Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks are creamy, pigmented and give a subtle sheen to the lips without being overly glossy. I don't find them particularly moisturising, but for the most part they're not specifically drying either. They're tasteless and scentless. I'm actually a big fan of the packaging, especially the colour-coded stickers, and I like the cylindrical shape over the rounded tip of MAC lipsticks or the rectangular-shaped Revlon ColorBurst lipsticks (though I do prefer the formulation of the ColorBurst line to Super Lustrous). The wear time depends on the shade, but since I'm constantly eating/drinking, how long my lipstick lasts isn't a top priority for me (if I'm really concerned, I'll opt for a stain). While I steer clear of the pearl finish, the crèmes boast some gorgeous colours.
I really need to get more into Revlon lipsticks, I have lip butters and the balm stains, but Berry Haute looks amazing! :) xx
ReplyDeleteI have pink in the afternoon and I love it, definitely picking up more shades soon! x
ReplyDeleteCherries in the snow has been on my wishlist for ages, such a pretty colour! x
ReplyDeleteI don't own any of these but would love to try them! Pink in the Afternoon and Berry Haute look so pretty! It's a shame Melonade is discontinued - would have loved that shade!
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of Ginger Rose. Amazing photos and swatches by the way. Very helpful for choosing a shade. :)
ReplyDeleteThey look so good, really nice shades:)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how expensive lipstick is in Australia. I feel so bad for you!
ReplyDeleteI don't own any actual Revlon Lipsticks, but think I may need to now! Some beautiful shades!
xoxo
Pink in the Afternoon and Melonade look amazing! I definitely need to get some of these

Pink In The Afternoon and Ginger Rose are beautiful. I'm glad you were able to get hold of the shades you wanted :D This is a really useful post actually as I'm looking to try more Revlon lipsticks, thank you!

Ginger rose looks lovely! *.*
ReplyDeleteI love love Pink in the Afternoon, Melonade and Cherries in the snow! I recently put in an order for NYX Haute melon and it looks similar to Melonade! Yet to wear any revlon lipsticks but they look soo good!
ReplyDeleteYou really picked out the best shades. Berry haute is my only Lustrous lippie and I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy Pink in the Afternoon broke! It came loose from the bullet so I had to scoop it out into a plastic pot. The formula is very creamy in that sense. I haven't got many of the Super Lustrous because I avoid true lipsticks but the shades are so diverse and pretty! Did you notice the Colorburst lipsticks are being pulled from the shelves? I hope they're not being discontinued!
ReplyDeleteYeah, they are I'm pretty sure. I have no idea why! I will be making another ColorBurst collection post soonish. Did you dispense with the bullet and just depot the lipstick? How odd! I don't wear Pink in the Afternoon anywhere near enough, but I'm glad I have it :)
DeleteI am unfortunately not really a fan of this super lustrous range from revlon. I am not a fan of MAC lipsticks either, that's why I agree with you that these lippies from revlon are similar to MAC lippies because I also find their formula similar..
ReplyDeleteI bought 4 super lustrous lipsticks from revlon while I was in Jakarta few months ago and I don't reach for them often enough.. I'd love to try Black Cherry though, it looks very nice on your lips!
I LOVE Revlon lip products.
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of Pink in the Afternoon!
Wow love cherries in the snow ..
ReplyDeleteI love lipstick posts! And I would love to see your matte Revlon collection as well. c:
ReplyDeleteI will try to get that up sometime soonish! Though I have a ColorBurst collection already lined up :)
DeleteWow Cherries in the Snow looks lovely on you Lena ^^ Very nice selection of shades : ) xx
ReplyDeleteRevlon make the best low-end lipsticks!

These are really fab lip swatches. I loveeeee Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks, they're so comfortable to wear and the colours are beautiful <3 xxx

Honestly, these lipsticks are amazing!
ReplyDeleteRevlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks are one of my favourite lipstick formulas too! I really need to pick up more colours, but love Berry Haute and Primrose :) Melonade looks so pretty.

Revlon lipsticks are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI particularly love Primrose, Cherries in the snow and Black cherry :)
You have such a fantastic collection! I'm also in love with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks. I usually get mine off eBay as the prices there are crazily low compared to in stores! I'm definitely going to pick up Berry Haute and Melonade in my next splurge!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful. I really love Black Cherry, it's beautiful. I have ginger rose too, and it's sadly not the most flattering on me :(
ReplyDeleteI must get me some Revlon lipsticks. I've been avoiding it because they're aren't that cheap here in the UAE. Cherries In The Snow and Pink In The Afternoon are such lovely shades.
ReplyDeleteLoving Berry Haute and Black Cherry! Thanks SO much for doing lip swatches!
ReplyDeleteI was in Walgreens the other day (as I'm in the states) and there's a new stall for Revlon with New Super Lustrous shades that look phenomenal! When I have a better snoop I'll let you know more, but they are out there.
ReplyDelete-Tara Joy
Ooohh, were those the new shine finish? I read about them the other day on a couple of blogs, they look super enticing!
DeleteI was looking at these just yesterday because they were on sale for $3.99 (I feel your pain) but ended up not getting any, mostly because it was tempting to scoop up like 10 at once. Great swatches and breakdown. The two cherry shades always tempt me, gah.
ReplyDeletelove your colours! :D
ReplyDeleteAll of these are beautiful! I love how berry haute and cherries in the snow look!
ReplyDeleteawesome collection! I have only tried the lip butter and want to branch out to other Revlon lippies. Ginger rose looks like a very pretty color.
ReplyDeleteThese lipsticks look gorgeous! I love 'pink rose', such a nice everyday shade :) ♥

I completely agree with your sentiments on Revlon lip products - they're absolutely fantastic for the price point (although, at $21.95 AUD it is quite pricey). I desperately wanted Cherries in the Snow - but all the retailers here don't carry it!!!! I did get Black Cherry and was totally disappointed with the splotchy finish if not applied with a lip brush. I think I freaked my husband out the first time I wore it...I think he thought I was going for the goth look..lol
ReplyDeleteHaha don't worry about what he says! ;) But yes, Black Cherry was a bit on the splotchy side, I have no idea why. I guess it must be something about the unconventional colour that makes the formulation more difficult to perfect? I hope you come across Cherries in the Snow eventually!
DeleteI have Primrose, Pink In The Afternoon, Cherries In The Snow, and Black Cherry... I just adore them. BUT MELONADE. Noooooo this is the first I've heard about it and am so sad that you say it's discontinued D: I'm going to have to scour eBay because I need that lipstick in my life (congrats on making it so far through your tube of it; I understand the feeling of accomplishment and sadness that comes along with it haha).

Good grief, the prices in Australia frighten me. Beautiful place from what I've seen, SCARY PRICES!!
ReplyDeleteGinger Rose and Pink in the Afternoon are shades that I would love to wear!
ReplyDeleteahemitsemme.blogspot.com
Wow, I can't believe they are so expensive there! Why is that anyway? You'd think that the companies would go under from such high prices..
ReplyDeleteRevlon Superlustrous are some of my favorite lipsticks too. There are 12 new creme finish lipsticks that were just added to the line the other day and I got a few of them! I really hope you do a matte post too :)
I guess it's because Australia is still stuck in the dark ages before the interwebs and when our dollar was still quite low? And things moved by ship LOL. I have no idea. A few companies have actually lowered their prices (Illamasqua and Laura Mercier are two that come to mind), but the "drugstore" is kind of stuck in way overpriced land. Wow, 12 new creme lippies? How exciting! Will you post about them? I'll try to get the matte post up sometime soonish :)
Deletei really need to try out these lipsticks >__< i love pink in the afternoon and melonade :)great post x
ReplyDeleteI think Revlon is an excellent choice for drugstore lipsticks, possibly the best. I think I only have one from the Super Lustrous line though, Just Enough Buff. Cherries in the Snow has always been an item of interest to me. It seems very popular, yes? Pinks intimidate me a bit!
ReplyDeleteI love Primrose! Going to have to pick it up next. Btw, $22 is outrageous when our exchange rate is the same and can get them as cheep as $5 :/
ReplyDeleteTell me about it! Though sadly our dollar has recently fallen below parity after a period of enjoying record strength (great for Internet shopping) :p
DeletePink in the Afternoon and Primrose these two tones are definitely my favorites no doubt you're one of the people I follow on his blog that has the most varied collection of lipsticks from Revlon. No doubt these shades are beautiful and very nice.
ReplyDeleteLol yes, I have way too many Revlon lipsticks!
DeleteLove these lipsticks (especially the creme formula)! I own (and adore) Pink in the Afternoon and Berry Haute, but from the swatches it seem like I'll have to pick up Primrose and Cherries in the Snow.
ReplyDeleteErika ♥ | iblushbeauty.blogspot.com
Such gorgeous shades and your swatches are fantastic! I have a few new items I need to go pick up now!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! Super Lustrous are some of my favourite lipsticks! I have Black Cherry, Cherries in the Snow and Pink in the Afternoon, I think those are the only three from your collection that we actually have in Ireland. I love the look of Melonade! Cherries in the Snow and Black Cherry are incredible colours, I think they suit a lot of different skin tones. Do you have any of the matte finish Revlon ones? Would love to see the rest of your Revlon collection!
ReplyDeleteEmma x
Glad you enjoyed it Emma! :) Yes, I have 6 matte lipsticks. A few people have asked about them in this post so I guess I will have to make a post featuring them ;)
DeleteOh, I'd love if you could show off the mattes! I'm a sucker for a matte lip. :D
ReplyDeleteI love Berry Haute, Black Cherry and Cherries in the Snow. CINS is such a vibrant colour. I remember a friend of mine had it on one night and it had such an impact and was just stunning.
xx
I feel the exact same way! I love MAC, but it does hurt my wallet, so I always try to find a revlon dupe because I feel they're just as good!

The Lovely Memoir
the packaging looks so retro haha. i've never tried these lipsticks but i'm ummed and ahhed at pink in the afternoon for a while now...the last 3 shades are really pretty too!
ReplyDeleteà la foliee
I haven't tried any of the Super Lustrous lipsticks but I think I ought to since Melonade and Cherries in the Snow are so gorgeous!!!

Pink In The Afternoon and Black Cherry are definitely my favorite shades. However, I think MAC Dubonnet is too close to BC in terms of color to justify me owning both. Cherries in the Snow is definitely a cult classic that I've considered purchasing, but I think I'll manage by mixing Girl About Town with Russian Red. These swatches definitely make it tempting for me to purchase them :) xx
ReplyDeleteI think Black Cherry might be discontinued, haven't found it anywhere. Been looking around since your last post on Berry lips :)
ReplyDeleteI know it's not available in the shops (like Priceline or Myer), I bought mine from Paddy's Markets haha. Maybe eBay? I think it is still sold in other countries though ... I guess it's too crazy of a shade to include in the main line here.
DeleteNow that I know they're $21 in Australia, I feel a bit silly complaining about the €10-15 price tag here in France. Being American, however, I know these are only about $5-7 in the States and it really just makes me mad! Cherries in the Snow is one of my all-time favorite shades. I love the nail polish in that shade too.
ReplyDeleteI WISH Revlon was available here. There is so much I want to try from this brand. Your lip swatches are beautiful girl! <3
ReplyDeleteJust followed as I came across your blog. Lovely post. I'm currently using 415 'Pink In The Afternoon' Revlon lipstick. I must say these lipsticks are amazing! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://jilliansmetime.blogspot.co.uk/
Great swatches! I don't own many of these lippies at all but I'd love to start a collection.
ReplyDeleteI've never been a lipstick fan (I know, crazy!) as I found that so many shades just didn't work on me- until I found this Revlon Super Lustrous range! They have such gorgeous colours and I love the cremes. I'm loving Ginger Rose, Pink in the Afternoon and Melonade- although whether they will suit me is another story! I'm also a fan of the packaging- just so sleek and simple, as well as being colour coded!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Revlon lipsticks but they look absolutely amazing! I'd like to try at least one of them in the future.
ReplyDeleteGinger rose and Pink in the afternoon are my favorite ! Your lips shade is lovely x
ReplyDeleteI love this colors!!!!!! My favorite is ginger rose!
ReplyDeletelike your blog. what about following each other??..

Catching up on posts cause I've been busy... I didn't realise that they were pulling Colorbursts from the shelves..... WHY?
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any other lip products besides Colorbursts... I really like Melonade And Pink In The Afternoon here... Your photos are always SO nice! Good job! ^_^
Pink in the Afternoon looks so nice on you! It's still my favorite, hehe. The warm-toned pink is so hard to come by sometimes. Melonade looks nice too! I love their Super Lustrous lipsticks, and they have such a big range. I always spend some time looking through them at the drugstore. :)
ReplyDeleteI have two Revlon Super Lustrous lippies in my current collection (Primrose and Apricot Fantasy) and I must say that their quality is quite good. I like that they apply smoothly and don't dry my lips out. I have wanted to get 'Pink in the Afternoon' for a while now but whenever I go into Priceline or Chemist Warehouse, there's sold out!
ReplyDeleteI think Pink in the Afternoon might be discontinued (at least in Australia) - I bought mine from Paddy's Markets as that was the only place I could find it!
DeleteYour lips are gorge! Love Pink in the afternoon and Cherries in the snow on you!
ReplyDeleteKah-Feh Yen
Revlon make such good lip sticks, I have Cherries in the Snow, which I love also!
ReplyDeleteYour lipstick posts always cause lipstick cravings. Pink in The Afternoon and Black Cherry sit at the top of my wishlist!
ReplyDeletePink in the Afternoon is so pretty! I've been looking for it after the raves but never got the chance to pick it up because it was always sold out and then gradually I forgot about it. But now that you've mentioned it.....yeaahh *guilty smile* haha. I have Primrose, but the blue based undertone doesn't quite work out for me. I still look to ghastly when I wear it so I'm a bit disappointed. I was really close to picking up Black Cherry one time but for some reason I chose Va-Va-Violet over it and then I regretted it because it's really blotchy on my lips and hard to pull off if I don't find the right lip liner. I guess I'll be picking up Black Cherry sometime soon too :P
ReplyDeleteLOL sorry to be such an enabler! ;)
DeleteI know what you mean about Primrose - sometimes I do find that it pulls too purplish/cool on me and it just doesn't sit right with my skin tone. But I guess I just convince myself it's fine and continue to wear it :p
I heard that Va Va Violet is very patchy. Black Cherry ain't great in that department either, but it's doable. I was surprised at the lip swatch I managed to get as it doesn't seem like it has any unevenness/patchiness, though I generally found it a bit tricky to apply well.
Does this mean I can look forward to a post about your new Revlon lipstick purchases sometime in the hear future? :) Haha!
Love this review!
