I try to get my makeup off after getting home and having dinner (food first, skin care later) with Bioderma Créaline H20 poured liberally over Daiso Cotton Puffs. I follow with a generous spritzing of my can't-live-without-it Avene Thermal Spring Water, which provides instant soothing, hydrating relief. Usually, that makes me confident enough most of the gunk's off my face, so as a second cleanse, I use a gentle foaming cleanser or occasionally my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser in the shower before bed.
Still mindful of Caroline Hirons's prescription of two toners (one exfoliating, one hydrating), I alternate between Pixi Glow Tonic and First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, then once again follow with Avene Thermal Spring Water (a lighter misting this time). I don't find the Avene to be materially different to La Roche-Posay Serozinc, so I'm a bit puzzled by the hype surrounding Serozinc last year.
I wait until the Avene has mostly evaporated off my face, then squeeze about 5 drops of the Antipodes Joyous Protein-Rich Night Replenish Serum into the palm of my hand. Rather than mixing it with my moisturiser as I've done with most of my face oils in the past, I massage it by itself all over my bare face. I find it absorbs better than Sukin Rose Hip Oil or Antipodes Divine Face Oil, in that it really seems to sink in and penetrate into my skin, rather than sit partially on the surface.
I then get a smallish dollop of Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream and layer it over the serum. This cream is quite rich and easily spread, so you don't need very much. It is on the greasy side, especially in combination with the serum, but it leaves the skin feeling nourished and protected overnight. I've noticed that in the mornings, the redness in my skin from my blemishes has significantly calmed down, my spots are slowly diminishing, and the overall texture of my skin appears smoother and softer. I think with any skin care routine, it's the commitment to sticking with it daily that eventually gives you results. I intend to continue with my current regime until my samples run out, then hope for another of Priceline's generous sales to restock in the full sizes.
I have been using the Avocado Pear night cream alternate nights for the past two weeks and quite like it. In fact its really hot here in contrast to Australia, but when used alone at night this cream really adds moisture without any greasiness! So far so good lets see! How's the little unicorn-esque pimple coming along? Still there or vanished? :D

Haha, it's still there but a (relatively subdued) red dot now. Not unlike the army of similar ones scattered around my face at the moment. Oh the joy.
DeleteI'm impressed. You seem so thorough with You skin care routine! The products You mentioned sound really encouraging.
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome that it's made your skin smoother and better! I'd totally love to try the serum! I'm just starting to try oils on the face, slowly though, because I'm scared of how my skin might react!
ReplyDeleteThese sound lovely! I been wanted to try Antipodes for ages now and I may have to start of with the night cream! Thanks for sharing :) x

This little duo sounds fantastic! I saw them in Priceline, and I do really want to try some of their products, but I'll wait till I have gone through a bit more of my skincare stash.

Ooh, I love the sound of both of these, particularly want to try the night cream. The Divine Oil is a must have for me, although I do agree it does take a while to completely sink in.

The Priceline deals on Antipodes atm aren't as enticing as 25% off at Myer or DJs (though the free Joyful hand and body cream with any skincare purchase atm doesn't sound bad at all). I want to repurchase the Apostle serum but I haven't felt either of the day or night creams to be calling out to me the way they did to you. This duo sounds lovely though- I've also found a good skincare regime at the moment by trial and error. Though the errors seem near indelible on my skin... :(
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to try Antipodes. I need to get on this.

I think that the hype around serozync is more about it's ingredients than anything else. I'm curious about it but...I'm really happy with my thermal waters from Avène and La Roche-Posay (which I need to stock up for Summer).
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to get either pixi glow tonic or FAB's pad's...Pixi's would be better in therms of product value but, the shipping is so damn abusive that I'll probably spend the extra euros and just get FAB's (although I'll try to use some online coupon that they always are so kind to send...same goes to REN's, which should also have a nice toner!)
I'm curious about Antipodes...I'm not sure if they stocked by HQHAIR or by CultBeautyUK...but I need to check it out :3
Take care*
Interesting product...my skin hasn't been doing the best lately either, so new products are constantly on the radar. I'll def. remember this one. "food first, then skin care" - lol. That made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right - sticking with a good routine is everything. I was testing something new and it broke me out, so it was back to the old trieds & true for a while. Now I loathe the thought of departing from that routine to test out more things that might be detrimental.
ReplyDeleteThose Priceline sales sound amazing. No Antipodes here yet, but Sukin just landed on our drugstore shelves! I was going to try their rosehip oil and face cream at some point. What do you think of their cleansers and toners?
I've only tried one of their cleansers which is the cream one that comes in a pump bottle and I like it! Rubbish at taking off makeup but good in the morning especially since it's not drying like some foaming ones can be :) Never tried their toners either. But do recommend their rose hip oil (though doubtful whether it's any different to rose hip oil from any other brand :p).
DeleteI must admit I’ve been buying the set packs Priceline has been offering with Sukin & Trilogy Rosehip oils with their counterpart night creams just because the value is more than decent. I have been loving the Trilogy oil, but I have yet to try it in conjunction with the night cream, and kind of unwilling because I have quite a few skincare items already opened.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that this Antipodes pair reduces your skin redness made me write this set down on my shopping list for the next Priceline 40%, just to.. you know.. add it to my ever-growing stash. Also, you’re not the only one to salivate over their skincare sales!
Ooh, the night cream sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am also crossing my fingers for another 40% off skincare sale at Priceline - cue haulage! I love that my local Priceline stocks Nuxe as well. x
I would love to try the Antipodes serum... And I also love the Avene Thermal Spring Water, I use it all the time!
ReplyDeleteI tried a tiny sample of the serum and absolutely loved it, definitely one I want to save up for :) x

I`ve always wanted to try Antipodes products! These sound really good, adding these to my wishlist ^^
ReplyDeletePIXELS ON YOUR SCREEN
I agree that the Avocado cream can be a little greasy, but I also don't mind since it nourishes my skin so well. I didn't even think about how good the next 40% skincare sale will be with all of the new brands - good call!
