Slouchy Oak

When the Mulberry Alexa first came to my attention at the beginning of 2010, it was instant obsession. I knew that I couldn't justify the hefty price tag, as much as I loved the satchel design, beautiful tan colour and effortless charm it exuded. I'd just splurged on a Balenciaga bag a few months prior, and was still dealing with having spent so much money for a bag. The Alexa remained on my mind as an object I admired and wished I owned, but always thought beyond my reach. Last week, an opportunity came my way to purchase the bag on sale, and I caved. I'm a little bit wary of "It bags", but I feel that the Alexa has a timeless quality. It's not super trendy, it doesn't scream designer, it's relatively unassuming. I'm telling myself it's an investment piece. I'm happy to have the real thing, and I'm looking forward to using it for years to come.

    I actually swooned when I saw this picture on my newsfeed!
    It is a gorgeous bad, and I can see it definitely being used forever!

    This is such an amazing bag and it has always been a bag that i have lusted for but haven't invested in yet. Maybe when i finally get a job and make an earning seeing that i am still a student. These designer bags are usually worth the money because of the great quality compared with fake ones. I'm so jealous of you right now and i enjoy using this beautiful bag :)

    :D i love understated messenger bags. i prefer bags like these because they're not only functional (i love bag with a lot of rooms/compartments hehe!) and you can match it with a lot of outfits
    (i like some prints on some bags but i don't like purses with crazy designer logos that make me look like a billboard for the brand lol).

    I always go for the cheaper alternative but it's always nice to know that you have a good quality and also an original timeless piece of a bag.

    Right now i'm using a some sort of replica but not so quite of the Givenchy Nightingale, I'm loving it so much! The quality is amazing and I got it for $20 on ebay. Despite almost having my aunty purchase the real thing for me, but i opted not to but instead got the money for something else useful :)

    I settled for a cheaper alternative of the Balenciaga late last year, it had a good run cause I used it for Uni then now it's dead :( the zipper broke.

    I also have cheap replicas of the Chanel 2.55 & and a good quality replica LV Clutch/Satchel Denier Ebene.

    I know many people aren't fans of replicas and knockoffs and all but I like to constantly switch bags without the hefty price tag :3

    One day I hope to save up the money for a timeless bag! Hehehe

    You definitely picked a beautiful, timeless hand bag. The price tag may shock some - but this bag will last you for years to come and is an effortless way to pull together an outfit. I think you made a fantastic purchase! And while replicas can easily be found...I'm not a fan of buying fake. You never know what or who you're supporting when you buy fake products.

    I've been smitten with this bag also! But unfortunately, I can't afford the steep price tag. You're so lucky you saw it on sale! This bag is timeless, the design is gorgeous, and I don't see it around often.

    OMG OMG OMG!! So beautiful! Alexa has been my obsession for so long but I decided to spend my money on prada saffiano first over this one, just last month.
    I am still saving some money now, been eyeing the hamilton from michael kors.
    Why oh why women have to love soooooo many things from make up, bags, shoes, clothes... T.T

      Oooh, I'm sure your Prada is super gorgeous :) I've not heard of the Saffiano but I just Googled it and it's beautiful. What colour did you buy?

      I know what you mean, the shopping temptations are endless, it's quite ridiculous :p Buying this Mulberry has reignited a time when I used to be much more obsessed with bags - I have quite the wishlist :)

    Ughh I've been lusting over this bag for the longest time as well! It's simple but chic and timeless - I feel like these pricey bags are well worth the money for the quality. I bought a black one last year that's really similar to the style but obviously only like 1/8 of the price and the side is starting to rip apart. I guess it's partially my fault for putting heavy books in it, but still...I didn't expect it to be like that so soon lol. Oh well. :P

    You lucky girl! The bag is beautiful. I would love to be able to own an Alexa but I can't justify spending so much on any handbag. Maybe in the future when I'm more well off haha :P

    Definitely timeless, agreed. I've seen satchels being the 'in' thing for so long now it's become a quick buy type of product. I too would like to invest in a really great versatile piece to be used for years to come. Great buy! :)
