Set to Shine

I'd never expected to win another giveaway so soon after Sue's, but I was lucky enough to win first prize in Amanda of Thai Tales's Christmas/150 followers giveaway as well! I was super excited to receive the Benefit High Flyin' Glosses set, which houses 6 x 6.5ml Ultra Plush lip glosses. The travel set is an ideal way to own every one of these new glosses from Benefit without spending a fortune in buying them all at full size. Each gloss is meant to be partnered with the boxed powder of the same name. I can't imagine myself getting through a whole 15ml tube, so I love that I can sample all the shades in these cute mini versions.

l-r: Coralista, Dallas, Bella Bamba, Sugarbomb, Hoola, Dandelion

Coralista was the only lip gloss that I'd already been exposed to, as a mini tube was featured in the Go TropiCORAL Lip & Cheek Kit. You can't go wrong with this summery coral shade. It's just the right mix between orange and red and I like that it's sheer and not heavy on the lips.

Dallas is the most pigmented of the lot. It's a browny rose that could almost pass as an extremely moisturising, slightly liquid lipstick. While more of a mature and conservative shade, it's also flattering and understated.

Bella Bamba is similar to Coralista in that both are very glossy and sheer with no shimmer, but rather than coral, it's a watermelon pink. Another shade that's tailor-made for summer.

Sugarbomb is a light pinkish brown with a lot of silver/diamond shimmer. In indirect light, it gives more of a frosted finish which I'm not the hugest fan of, but in sunlight, it has the prettiest sparkle and dimension.

Hoola is a golden nude with gold shimmer. It's the lightest shade of the six, but because of its sheerness, it doesn't wash me out like a nude lipstick might. It's close to being clear and really only gives a slight tint, but the gold shimmer adds something special.

Dandelion is a light nude pink with silver shimmer. Very sheer like Hoola with similar amounts of shimmer (Sugarbomb is the most shimmery), the pearly pink gives a very girly look.

l-r (first, second, third row): Coralista, Dallas, Bella Bamba, Sugarbomb, Hoola, Dandelion

While I'm not a big lip gloss girl, I feel like these six tubes have all my lip gloss needs covered. I love the variety of the set and how there's a good mix between levels of pigmentation, shimmer and colours, though overall the glosses lean more on the sheer and neutral (pink/nude) side. Each gloss is easy to wear, comfortable on the lips, moisturising and not sticky. There is a strong artificial sweet smell to these that I find quite cloying, but it's not a major complaint. Thank you Amanda for this lovely giveaway. I love reading her blog for reviews of Australian products and awesome nail art tutorials!

  8. You're on a lucky streak! Still on a Benefit kick then, hey? There's a Benefit boxed powder travel set called Powder Pop on SNet atm and I've been thinking about it. Coralista, Dallas and Dandelion are very tempting... :)

  10. I always love how detailed your reviews are! I love travel size make up since I never seem to be able to finish up my cosmetics before they expire! AHAH.

I have to say that the colours that appeal to me the most are Bella Bamba and Sugarbomb. So pretty!

  11. I have this set, but I haven't used it yet. I'm surprised by the lack of pigmentation in Bella Bamba since it is such a full on blush.

  14. I really love the look of Coralista, Bella Bamba and Dandelion... and as I already have the Bella Bamba and Dandelion blushes I'd love to have these to compliment them. I really wish I'd picked up a Benefit gift set in the January sale as they all look really great but I can't find any now :( Congratulations on winning such a great giveaway!

  16. you are one lucky girl!! ;) all the shades look sheer, but Dallas and coralista look quite opaque!
I am usually not a lip gloss person, but lately I've been digging more lip glosses in my collection and also start to buy more and more lip glosses . I don't really know what is happening to me? . lol

  17. You've been winning great giveaways recently! I think my favourites in this set are predictably Coralista and Bella Bamba. They're so cute and I hardly ever finish a full sized lipgloss so mini sizes are a good idea! xx

  18. Congrats! My lips are super pigmented sp i doubt this would show up on them but they look nice on you. I can never go through an entire tube of gloss too, not my prefernce haha. Id rather go for lipsticks!

  19. How lucky of you to have won another giveaway so soon! Products by Benefit have such gorgeous packaging which I love, and these lipglosses are no exception. I'm not a real lip gloss fan either but I do agree with you that these are quite pretty! I quite like the look of Dallas and Dandelion :)

  22. Such a cute set! I haven't tried anything from Benefit besides a sample of POREfessional primer. I adore their packaging and have read many rave reviews about their makeup so I'm planning to visit my nearest Benefit counter for my first purchase... any advice for what I should try first? :)

    1. I'd go for a boxed blush since that's what they're known for :) They do makeup sets with smaller versions of their most popular products which could be an ideal introduction to their makeup for the uninitiated. I find some of their blushes to be very high on shimmer (Coralista, Sugarbomb), but the shades are quite soft, apply easily to the cheek and flattering. I have Hervana and Hoola which I really like, as well as High Beam :)

  23. That is the perfect set by Benefit. I usually never use up the full sized tubes anyway plus it's useful for bloggers because we get to use swatch them all for everyone. :)

  36. Awesome prize! I would be in heaven if I won this :) I have always been curious about these lip glosses as I have 4 of the Benefit blushes and I like to " match" blushes with lip products. Nice to know they are not super sticky as I hate it when it's windy and my hair is stuck to my lips.

  41. I think one of the things that I think are great for these Lipglos is non sticky. Really all are beautiful colors but my favorite is Dandelion. I think it's because it looks ultra smooth and natural. The package set is adorable. And each of them it is also separate.

  49. I love the Benefit sets they bring out, I really am only lusting over Dallas (I wear the blush version of it quite a lot!) and wish they sold it by itself as a mini, as I love that size for my handbag!

Great swatches, and congrats on winning (you must be rolling in good luck!)
