Here's a change from the usual glitter polishes that I love wearing. I wanted to go for something approximating Revlon Pale Cashmere or Essie Fiji but didn't have an exact dupe in my collection. So I improvised and decided to layer a pale pink over a white/cream colour. I started with three coats of Cutex Quick 'N Go! in French Porcelain (500), a sheer off white. I've used up more than half the bottle and the remaining polish has become very thick and gloopy. It also takes an eternity to dry, which is why I almost never reach for it even though I do like the colour. I then painted on 2-3 coats of Ulta3 French Pink (probably should've stopped at one, but I couldn't help myself). The French Porcelain base makes French Pink a bit paler and more pastel, though the time you have to wait for everything to dry is beyond tedious. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri helped, but I had to take a nap after a sudden migraine came on, only to wake up and find blanket imprints on my nails. Not impressed. At least I had snapped shots beforehand.
I absolutely hate falling asleep with wet nails and then finding your nails has imprints in them! It's such a shame about your nails because they look gorgeous in these pictures. I love Ulta 3 nail polish :)
ReplyDeleteYour nails look great! I wish I could get mine to look like this
ReplyDeleteS xx
This is a really pretty mani. I rarely go for pale pinks as I usually want something brighter on my nails, but I do like this!
ReplyDeleteYou could say that the fabric imprint was intentional :D This pale pink is so pretty! It would be perfect for a wedding.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous combination! This is my ideal pink manicure!
ReplyDeleteYou should get a little bottle of polish thinner for that gloopy polish! I have saved so many polishes and so much drying time...and a bottle of thinner lasts a LIFETIME!

I really should get some nail polish thinner! I was on the cusp of throwing this Cutex one in the bin because of how thick it'd become. For whatever reason it never seems to dry either, such a pain :p But thanks for the useful tip :)
DeleteThis is a beautiful combination :D
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wanted to know if I could send you one of the covergirl lip glosses I have. So let me know if that's okay :)
Thank you :) That is way too kind of you - but honestly I wouldn't want you to go to that trouble and effort! Please enjoy them for yourself :) But it's super sweet of you to offer.
DeleteYou made such a pretty colour out of the two ^^ It's a shame that they weren't dry enough and got ruined, I hate when that happens! Since I like nail polish so much and change it like crazy, I should invest in one of those 30 seconds lamp systems, no? That would be a dream come true: nails dry in less than a minute LOL
ReplyDeletelove the color! i've never tried ulta nail polish but i've heard good things!

Eugh, imprints in my nails bug me to know end!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely though!!!!

Such a lovely post: I like this nail polish color so much!!
ReplyDeleteWhat about following each other? Cosa mi metto???
I always manage to smudge my nails because I paint them at night and then go to sleep minutes after. They seem dry when I go to bed, but when I get up in the morning, there is a huge mess on my nails.

That color is so pretty!! It sucks that you had to do so many coats. I am so impatient with drying nail polish!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who paints their nails and falls asleep, but unlike the rest of us, she doesn't move so the polish dries and everything looks good!! lol
I thought that I have finally seen a pale pink polish that looks so solid on nails and not translucent. And then, I read and realised that it is layered over. That's a great improvisation. Oh, I hate it whenever I wake up with blanket prints on my nails even after I thought they have dried. I can imagine your frustration.
ReplyDeletea perfect pale pink! I haven't found my perfect pale pink, but this one looks so pretty! and I really can understand the 'waking up with blanket prints on my nails' part, been there done that :p
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and feminine! I love soft pink colors like this, but I usually don't end up wear wearing them for many days because I get bored and end up changing to a more sparkly color. :-)

such a pretty color :D
ReplyDeleteHmmm...the color is certainly gorgeous, but the slow drying will bug me.

It is absolutely beautiful, such a shame that the sheets ruined it! :(
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds kind of weird, but this is exactlly what Barbie's nails look like. Haha! Very pretty. Oh and sorry to hear about the migraine. Hopefully that's the last you'll see of it.
ReplyDeletesuch a sweet soft pink. It's like whispering softness, romance and everything lovely.

Love the soft pink - it definitely reminds me of the strawberry flavour in neopolitan ice cream! Too bad it takes so long to dry though :(
ReplyDeleteYou seriously have the prettiest nails!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so pretty! x
ReplyDeleteHOWWWW do you apply nail polish so perfectly? I had a ball on friday and I was practically tearing my hair out because my nail polish kept smudging and getting all over my fingers. and hair also got into my nails. hahahaa
ReplyDeletecocoandgarcon.blogspot.com
Awwww :( What colour did you apply? I apply nail polish really messily, the work really happens after it's applied and I have to get rid of the surrounding nail polish that's not on my nail lol. I either scrape it off in the shower or I scrape it off with a whole heap of moisturiser/hand cream :p It's a fairly painstaking process. So pretty much I have too much time on my hands :p
